NCCHCA's Clinical Department

The Clinical Department focuses on serving the needs of Community Health Centers in all areas of care. Clinical programs and services target ensuring high quality of care while meeting programmatic requirements for 330 funding as a Health Center.  The clinical department strives to assist health centers with federal program requirements in clinical areas, to meet reporting requirements and to provide the highest quality of care that is aligned with evidence-based standards of care.  NCCHCA maintains a robust knowledge base for Community Health Centers. Clinical topics, standards of care, coding and billing resources, sliding fee scale, FTCA, quality, risk management, PCMH and other topics pertinent to health centers are housed in the knowledge base, SkyDrive.Directions to access SkyDrive are included in The Week Ahead newsletter.  For questions or assistance, contact Marti.

The clinical department also houses the Health Center Operations Specialist who provides hands on training at health centers in areas such as Sliding Fee Scale, policy and procedure, mock site visits and audits. 

The Clinical Department staff are happy to provide support for HRSA site visits, quality programs, risk management programs, and other areas required for Section 330 Federal Grant compliance.

Current Initiatives

Clinical Workgroups

Clinical Workgroups provide training and technical assistance, educational opportunities and facilitate communication among health center staff. Meetings and trainings may be face to face, by telephone conference or by webinar. Listervs are used to disseminate information and facilitate communication.

Clinical Network

The Clinical Network is open to all CHC employees. The primary audience is the nursing and clinical support staff, but others are welcome to participate in the listserv and attend meetings and trainings. Staff Lead: Marti Wolf

Medical Directors

The Medical Directors Council provides an opportunity for Medical Directors at NC's Community Health Centers to have a place to address concerns, share ideas and best practices and network with colleagues. Staff Lead: Marti Wolf

Pharmacy Directors

Pharmacy Directors Council offers a place for Pharmacy Directors at NC Community Health Center 340b pharmacies to network and share concerns and best practices. Pharmacy Directors meet 4 times a year. Please see the NCCHCA Calendar of Events for upcoming meeting dates. Staff Lead: Marti Wolf

Dental Directors

Dental Directors from NC's Community Health Centers meet on a quarterly basis to discuss areas of common concern. Please see the NCCHCA Calendar of Events for upcoming meeting dates. Staff Lead: Marti Wolf

American Diabetes Association Diabetes Self-Management Education Workgroup

The ADA Diabetes Self-Management Education Workgroup meets by webinar on a monthly basis. The monthly meetings address ADA compliance, provide training and share best practices related to DSME. Target participants are health centers who are under NCCHCA’s ADA DSME-recognized program. . Staff Lead: Carey O’Reilly

Behavioral Health Workgroup

The Behavioral Health Workgroup is a partnership between behavioral health service providers at NC Community Health Centers and other Behavioral Health Center providers and care coordinators to facilitate integration of behavioral health into primary care. Staff Lead: Alice Pollard.

QUICHE- a Quality Improvement Workgroup

Quiche is a gathering of health center staff who have varied responsibilities for quality improvement efforts. Nursing, report writers, providers and others involved in quality improvement come together to discuss issues, share best practices, address EMR successes and problems.  Staff Lead: Carey O'Reilly

Practice Managers Workgroup

The Practice Managers Workgroup is an opportunity for practice managers to address financial and operational issues, share policies and procedures and discuss other issues that impact the day to day management and operations of a health center site. Staff lead: Sharon Brown-Singleton

SkyDrive (OneDrive)

SkyDrive (now OneDrive) is a cloud-based Knowledge Base.  Thousands of resources reside on SkyDrive. Clinical Guidelines, policies and procedures, job descriptions, forms, coding and billing resources, HR resources, behavioral health resources and much more are available.  Recordings of webinars are also available, such as the HealthSpan trainings for Quality Improvement and the Customer Service webinars conducted by SkillPath.  For access to SkyDrive contact Marti Wolf.
